FAQ

please read through these carefully and let me know if you have any questions.

how much are individual therapy sessions?

in order to sustain my work in a capitalist-dominated society, i provide services through the anti-oppressive rate structure seen below. review the questions in the next FAQ & follow the instructions to determine which level may best fit your circumstances. please keep in mind sustain, solidarity, & reparations slots are limited. if you can invest more in your healing please do so. your decision to invest more is an act of solidarity and a refusal to accept the benefits of racial capitalism and privilege.

redistribution: $240-$275

full cost: $210-$240

sustain: $170-$210

solidarity: $130-$170

reparations: $90-$130

**initial intake sessions are $30+ our agreed upon rate & are required for all new clients as well as previous clients who haven’t received services from me for more than one month.

what questions are on the anti-oppressive rate questionnaire?

answer the following questions to the best of your ability & then count the amount of “yes’s” & “no’s” you answered. there are lots of situations and experiences not covered here.please note i do not require proof of your answers. this is meant to be a guide, not a prescription. you know your financial reality better than any person or any scale.  this can be an opportunity to examine your resources (or lack thereof).

are you in-network with any insurance providers?

I am not in-network with any insurance providers. If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, we may be able to work together and have your sessions reimbursed. After you meet your deductible, your insurance plan typically reimburses you a percentage (around 50-80% depending on the plan).

I do not work with insurance companies for a number of reasons, some of which are described in my Connect With A Therapist Guide. The reality is insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis (after one session) even when it is not therapeutically necessary and request personal health information beyond what I believe is justified. They also reimburse therapists with very low rates and sometimes do not reimburse at all. My goal is to provide you with care that honors my capacity and not working with insurance companies allows me to do that.

The Connect With A Therapist Guide has a section dedicated to insurance support and is available for free. Link can be found in the shop link.
